Devin Taylor joins the Lions

Devin Taylor
Jeff Risdon, DLD Editor

The Lions had two picks clustered together, one at the bottom of the fourth and one at the top of the fifth. They traded the 5th round pick, #137 overall, to the Seattle Seahawks. With the 132nd pick, the Lions chose South Carolina DE Devin Taylor. Both Darren Page and I evaluated Taylor quite similarly: a better athlete than football player but just enough of a football player to offer some promise.

A Wide Receiver for Every Pick

Thursday, April 18th, 2013

Robert Woods could be celebrating TDs in Ford Field as the 36th overall pick

Jeff Risdon, DLD Editor

Continuing in the series with options for specific positions at every draft spot, today we hit the wide receivers. Expectations are that the Lions will address the position at some point in the draft, as there is a clear need to fill the void left by the mental incapacity of Titus Young and the injuries to Nate Burleson and Ryan Broyles. This is a great draft to need wide receiver help; here at DLD we have over 50 receivers with draftable grades, though the top tier lacks the certainty and wattage of more recent classes.

Potential Lions from Shrine Game Week

Thursday, January 17th, 2013

Penn State LB Gerald Hodges

Jeff Risdon, DLD Editor

It was a warm and interesting week in St. Pete watching the Shrine Game practice sessions and meeting some of the players and agents in the hotel. While I was there for a more general overview, some players stood out as being a potentially good fit for the Lions. The Shrine Game generally features players taken in the final three rounds and priority free agents, though a handful of players could go as high as the late second round.
