Continuing in the series with options for specific positions at every draft spot, today we hit the wide receivers. Expectations are that the Lions will address the position at some point in the draft, as there is a clear need to fill the void left by the mental incapacity of Titus Young and the injuries to Nate Burleson and Ryan Broyles. This is a great draft to need wide receiver help; here at DLD we have over 50 receivers with draftable grades, though the top tier lacks the certainty and wattage of more recent classes.

It’s no secret: the Lions need a pass rusher or two in this draft. Because the defense seldom blitzes, that means defensive ends. I think we will see less of the Wide 9 technique, but any Lions DE must have the ability to play from that alignment. That means speed and the ability to flatten around the edge. Here is an option for each Lions pick in the draft. These players should realistically remain available for the Lions when they pick.

It was a warm and interesting week in St. Pete watching the Shrine Game practice sessions and meeting some of the players and agents in the hotel. While I was there for a more general overview, some players stood out as being a potentially good fit for the Lions. The Shrine Game generally features players taken in the final three rounds and priority free agents, though a handful of players could go as high as the late second round.
