The Texas Longhorns make the short drive down I-35 to San Antonio to play the high-flying Oregon Ducks in the Alamo Bowl.

This will represent Mack Brown’s finale as coach of the Longhorns after a strange and controversial “will he stay or won’t he?” trip over the last two years. (more…)

Colt Lyerla: A Troubled Talent

It’s not often when one of the most talented players in the nation decides to leave the football team in the middle of a successful season. It would be more understandable if there were piling losses, or outward clashes with coaches, or even pressing family issues.

In the case of Oregon tight end Colt Lyerla, none of those seem to overtly apply. Lyerla left the Ducks in early October, citing personal issues.

Even in his star-crossed career, this seems surprising. Lyerla is an incredibly gifted athlete, but has never quite achieved the level of success envisioned. His Ducks career ends with just 34 career receptions and 12 career starts. This production is not nearly indicative of Lyerla’s considerable athleticism and ability as a football player. (more…)


Draft Matchup: Ifo Ekpre-Olomu vs. Marqise Lee

This matchup features two eligible underclassmen for the 2014 NFL Draft in Marqise Lee and Ifo Ekpre-Olomu. Each has evident first round talent. Lee’s skills may even warrant top ten talk, which isn’t crazy considering he’s looking like the best receiver prospect since A.J. Green if not Calvin Johnson. (more…)
