Since the draft is over it is now proper time to assess the depth chart. This is a projection as to how the Lions will enter their first mini-camp. This entry focuses on the offense, and we’ll tackle the defense later.

This has been a tumultuous and eventful offseason for the Detroit offensive line. Venerable veteran Jeff Backus retired, opening a hole at left tackle. Stephen Peterman was sent packing, opening a hole at right guard. Gosder Cherilus departed via free agency, opening a hole at right tackle.

The Mecca of the accessible scouting world is Mobile, Alabama for the next week. The Combine in Indianapolis gets more attention and has a much deeper talent pool, but the annual Senior Bowl is the last chance for real competitive football matchups amongst the upper echelon prospects.

BCS National Championship Scouting Review

If you watched the game, you know it was painfully one-sided. I watched it twice tonight thanks to the wonder of DVR and using commercial breaks and halftime to review prior drives. I used the above picture to help cleanse my eyes from the massacre. Here are my notes on the final college game of the 2012 season.
