12th ranked South Carolina travelled to Death Valley to play in-state rival, #11 ranked Clemson in a late season night game. Joe Tessitore and Matt Millen were on the call for ESPN. Ideal football conditions, 58 degrees with a slight breeze from left to right across the field. The Gamecocks escaped with a 27-17 win behind backup QB Dylan Thompson, who was mighty impressive and deserves a legit chance to unseat Connor Shaw going forward. Thompson showed excellent pocket presence, a plus arm, and good field vision for a guy getting the start against a tough rival on very short notice.
