With pads popping and the wind blowing many prospect stated their cases while some others had a day to forget.  The big boys in the trenches got more live reps and most had back and forth battles all day long.

North Practice


Aaron Donald again had a productive day in terms of disruption.  He drew lots of praise from the Falcons staff in early work against double teams at the point of attack, keeping his shoulders square to the line of scrimmage and battling with his hands.  Donald was as explosive as ever getting into gaps in 11 v. 11 and was still too much to handle for a majority of the practice. Every draft cycle has prospects who flash on the college field, but on Sundays are merely a flash in the pan.  Some players receive unwarranted praise as college players, while others dominate on Saturdays with skillsets that don’t translate against NFL competition.  These prospects come to mind as ones that have received hype from consensus opinions that may be unwarranted. With only the BCS Championship Game still on the docket, here’s an updated 3-round mock with plenty of changes and a lot of surprises.

Round One:
1. Kansas City Chiefs: Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia. New Coach Andy Reid is a QB guru at heart, and the team must improve at the position to get competitive. Smith has warts but landing with Reid is probably his best-case scenario.

The upstart Huskies have their work cut out for them against the Seminoles, who could be playing for the national title if not for a flukish bad day against North Carolina State. The Seminoles are loaded with future NFL talent.
