The first half of the Detroit Lions 2014 schedule was clearly the easiest portion of their schedule.  Finishing the season out on the road against divisional opponents all but ensured the second part of the season would be a brutal finish even if the Lions are winning.  Their first tough match up, however, comes only in their second game as they take on the Carolina Panthers, one of the surprise playoff teams of 2013.  Although it’s a playoff team, there are some questions that make this game not quite as clear cut as it would be otherwise. This analysis is centered on how each team improved themselves through their selections.  Every team in the league got better through the draft, the difference is the varying degrees of improvement.  The teams are ranked simply by how much better they got through trades involving picks and actual selections. Predicting the compensatory pick selections is far from an exact science. The last version had a lot of issues and I just wanted to say thank you to everybody who pointed out something that I missed. These comments helped me tremendously to come up with more accurate projections. As before, if you see something that you think is a problem, let me know and I’ll take a closer look.

Selections received by round:
3rd: Texans and Titans
4th: Ravens, Lions, and Packers
5th: Falcons, Ravens, and 49ers
6th: Ravens (x2), Panthers (x2), Raiders (x2), Texans (x3), Browns, Giants, Titans
7th: Cardinals, Falcons, Bengals, Packers, Dolphins, Eagles, Steelers, and Titans
End of the 7th because of record: Chiefs, Jaguars, Raiders, and Eagles.
